Parent Coaching

PARENT COACHING SERVICES

Families are an integral part of intervention programs and therefore Creative Therapy Associates is offering evidence-based parent-coaching programs that are eligible for funding under the Ontario Autism Program.

APPLIED BEHAVIOURAL ANALYSIS

Our Parent Coaching sessions, led by a Registered Behaviour Analyst (RBA), empower families with evidence-based strategies to support their child’s development, manage behaviors, and enhance communication. Parents gain confidence and practical skills to create a positive, supportive environment for their child’s success.

MORE THAN WORDS® — THE HANEN PROGRAM®

The More Than Words® Program was designed specifically for parents of children ages 5 and under on the autism spectrum or presenting with other social communication difficulties.

The program provides parents with strategies and structured coaching and support to help their children reach their full communication potential, by addressing the unique individual needs of the child.

The More Than Words® program focuses on improving a child’s social communication and interactions, play skills and imitation skills. Parents attend eight 2-hour group sessions where they learn strategies on how to best interact with their child during each visit.

Parents are asked to think of ways to use the strategy taught with their child over the next few weeks. (They are asked to record a home session and then the video is reviewed during the following visit for feedback.)

During the follow up group visits families report on how they incorporated the strategies learned from the previous week into everyday activities, what worked well and what strategies to use if faced with barriers.

THE PLAY PROJECT

The PLAY Project is an evidence-based, parent-implemented intervention designed to support children with autism and developmental delays through play-based learning. This program helps families engage with their child in meaningful ways, promoting social interaction, communication, and emotional growth. Guided by trained professionals, including Speech-Language Pathologists (SLPs), parents learn effective techniques to enhance their child’s development through everyday play, fostering stronger connections and lifelong skills.
