  • What types of behaviours do you support?

We support a wide range of problem behaviours, including but not limited to:

    • Aggression (e.g., hitting, kicking, biting)

    • Self-injury (e.g., head-banging, scratching, biting oneself)

    • Property destruction (e.g., throwing objects, breaking items)

    • Other contextually inappropriate behaviours
  • What Does This Program Focus On?

The Skills-Based Treatment Clinic focuses on helping individuals develop functional communication, tolerance, and adaptive skills while effectively reducing problem behaviours.

    Our program emphasizes:

    • Teaching alternative, appropriate behaviours to replace disruptive or severe problem behaviours.

    • Promoting independence by strengthening executive functioning, self-regulation, and coping strategies.

    • Enhancing social and communication skills to support meaningful interactions in different environments.

    • Increasing safety and well-being by reducing high-risk behaviours through reinforcement-based interventions.

    • Building caregiver competence and confidence by providing coaching and strategies for continued progress at home and in the community.

  • Is this Evidence Based?

Yes! The Skills-Based Treatment Clinic uses Practical Functional Assessment (PFA) and Skills-Based Treatment (SBT), both of which are evidence-based and supported by research. These methods are recognized as best practices in Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA) for effectively reducing severe problem behaviours while teaching functional communication, tolerance, and adaptive skills.
